The Artis Makeup Brush Dupe Review – Aunt Did Voiceover

posted by Jessica Carroll January 6, 2017

Happy New Year!

I am so excited to post my first video of 2017 because it was a full family collaboration. You will find out why soon!

In today’s video I reviewed a very special style of makeup brushes that countless celebrities use. Lady Gaga, Kylie Jenner, Kim Kardashian, and many more claim these brushes have changed the way they apply their makeup.

It is called the Artis Makeup Brush Collection. Have you ever heard of it or tried it? It looks like a toothbrush/hair brush combined. The only issue is the 10-brush Artis collection costs over $355 dollars. Stay with me here…don’t run away yet! I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: the tools you use to apply your makeup are just as important as the makeup itself. However if you’re like me, and you don’t feel comfortable spending that much money on just the brushes…I have a Plan B!

My friends over at My Makeup Brush Set introduced me to a similar collection but for a lot lot less…only $39.99! YIPEEE!

Personally I have always been a makeup brush girl (or I just use my fingers), I don’t really use the Beauty Blender that much anymore, which is why I was pumped to put these brushes to the test and see how my makeup looked.

Both the Artis Brushes and the My Makeup Brush Set are made of tiny hairs that are ridiculously soft. Don’t worry; they are 100{34fb4eeda169cb5dad04eef044e1cf7f06c385608f13d9640b5cf0ca5badb836} animal cruelty free! When you run your fingers across the dense, tightly packed bristles, they feel like suede.

Watch the video to find out what my overall thoughts on the brushes after using them for the first time. I added a fun little twist to my video and I had my aunt, Tara, who only wears makeup to big events like weddings, do the voiceover. No joke I had to convince her to wear makeup on New Years Eve, not because she needed it, she is gorgeous without anything, just because part of the New Years celebration is getting ready with your girls…am I right?

Anyways, she couldn’t believe how many steps it takes to apply makeup! #SoFunny

Back to my overall thoughts on My Makeup Brush Set!

Foundation makeup-bush-3

I loved the biggest brush for applying foundation. It’s big enough to work foundation around your whole face and neck but small enough to still get under your eyes and the grooves of your nose. I just have to mention how soft it is once again!

I personally wasn’t a fan of using the brushes with powder, and contouring with them was extremely difficult. #Pass

I did love the small “tater tot” brush, as my aunt described it, for applying eyeshadow in the crease of your eye. It fit perfectly and blended nicely.

As for the eyebrows, the thin, longer brush was amazing for coloring in your brows because it acted as a brow brush as well.

There you have it. I would give a few of the brushes from My Makeup Brush Set a thumbs up!

Have you used these style of brushes? What do you think? How do you apply your makeup? Tell me below!

Huge shout out to Tara for her amazing voiceover skills! I hope you enjoyed it!

Jess
